During this beta, RankStudio runs on the BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model: all AI processing happens directly in your browser. We never store your text or bill you for server time — all you need is your own free Google key. Getting one takes exactly 1 minute:
Head to Google's official developer page and sign in with your regular Google account (Gmail or Workspace):
In the left menu, click "Get API key". Then hit the blue "Create API key" button. If it asks you to create a project, simply pick "Create API key in a new project".
Google will show you a long code that starts with AQ. (If you still have an old key starting with AIzaSy, don't use it — Google no longer accepts those and it will throw an error.) That code is your secret key. Hit the copy button.
Go back to the RankStudio app (Social, Ads or SEO) and paste that key into the settings. Done! The engine now runs on your own account: AI rewrites that never touch our servers.
Your key is stored only in your browser's local storage. RankStudio never sends it to our servers or stores it in any external database. It's 100% yours and safe.
Honest notes: the audit (your score) needs no key at all — it's local math and always free. The key is only used for AI rewrites. Gemini's free tier is generous for personal use; if you ever outgrow it, the paid plan is purchased directly from Google — RankStudio charges nothing on top.
